PURPOSE:
Purpose: Co-ordinate and manage proper functioning of Municipal Council

FUNCTIONS:

• To preside over the meetings of Council.

• To ensure council meets at least quarterly.

• To facilitate and liaise with municipal stakeholders.

• To monitor compliance on the implementation of Council resolutions.

• To ensure Councillors comply with code of conduct.

• To ensure compliance with council and council committee rules and standing orders.

• To render administrative support to the municipal public account committee (MPAC)

• To ensure that Council meets

• Must ensure that the legislative arm of the municipality functions effectively.

• Must ensure effective oversight over the Executive authority of the Council to ensure the effectiveness of the committees for the municipal council established in terms of section 79.

• And to be responsible for the ethics and accountability of the municipal council.
